đź’ś Career Well-being: A 10-minute networking strategy for busy leaders

Dear Thriving Introvert!

In this newsletter, I'll cover:

  • Networking for Leaders with a 10-minute daily framework (you can build your network whether you are job searching or just connecting)

Most career advice treats networking as a full-time content marketing job: “Post every day, share hot takes, and broadcast your every move.”

If you’re an introverted manager, director, or executive—especially if you're currently employed—that approach isn't just exhausting. It feels performative and risky.

The truth? Real executive influence isn't built by shouting louder than everyone else. It’s built through quiet, intentional strategy behind the scenes.

Here are 3 quick, low-stress shifts you can make right now to build high-value connections on LinkedIn without burning out:

1. Shift from Content Creation to Curated Conversation

You don’t need to write viral posts to get noticed by senior decision-makers. Instead, save 10 to 15 key executive profiles in a web browser folder. Set a 10-minute timer each morning, open those links, and leave 1 or 2 value-first comments on their recent posts. A thoughtful 2–3 sentence perspective establishes your executive presence far faster than a generic "Great post!" ever could.

2. Master the Two-Step Stealth Connection

Introverted leaders are often uncomfortable announcing a job search, and decision-makers rarely refer people they don't know well. Pushing for a phone call right away creates unnecessary friction. Instead, build rapport first:

  • Stage 1: Start a low-pressure async conversation in DMs about an industry topic or a post they shared.
  • Stage 2: Only after exchanging 2–3 messages back and forth, offer a brief 10-minute sync to exchange perspectives.

3. Measure "Visibility Without Vanity"

Disconnect your effort from public vanity metrics like likes, shares, or post views. Your goal isn't to become an influencer; it's to build targeted, professional credibility with key decision-makers. Measure your success by the quality of private conversations in your DMs, not public applause.
